Rail Professional Magazine (October2021) Article: Digital remedies for recruitment headaches
In an article published in Rail Professional magazine, October 2021, the OPC shared digital solutions for large recruitment drives that they’ve developed through their long experience in managing client’s recruitment projects, for a variety of roles.
The OPC has a great deal of experience in supporting, overseeing or fully-managing talent recruitment projects in the rail and transport sector. A challenge raised by talent managers during the COVID-19 pandemic was the efficient pre-screening of applicants, particularly digitally, which still continues to be a point of concern today. The OPC can design tailored pre-screening questionnaires, to effectively reduce a candidate pool to find the best talent which may include:
- Non-negotiable questions covering the essentials of the role.
- Job preference questions, for example exploring task preferences or approach to rules
- Role-specific questions about the key important tasks for the role
- Mini situational judgement and knowledge of the organisation questions
"We’re always looking for ways to support our clients’ recruitment challenges, removing as many headaches as possible. Online pre-screening questionnaires streamline candidate evaluation for any talent acquisition process, saving HR teams valuable time and money."
Jo Lawrence, Business Development Director at OPC Assessment
Online psychometric assessment tools, such as ability tests, personality questionnaires, and situational judgment tests, can be used to find the best fit candidates from a smaller talent pool. The OPC’s Bureau Service is also available, to support recruiters who may not be qualified to select, administer, or use psychometric tools.
The article went on to share details about OPC Assessment's redesigned digital assessment platform, Candela, which offers user-friendly features with built in aspects to ease the complexities of any sized talent acquisition project.
Using digital recruitment methods, including online assessment tools, is very beneficial. They can facilitate the evaluation of the process effectiveness, specific tool value, identify areas for improvement, and enable comparisons between candidate performance at testing and during their training.
