Australasian client looks to validate the Visual Search Exercise (VSE)

Posted on 6th May 2020

The Visual Search Exercise (VSE) is a relatively new and exciting test published by OPC Assessment.

The VSE has been designed specifically to help identify at selection those train driver applicants who are more likely to have a safety incident when driving e.g.

  • SPAD,
  • station overrun,
  • failed to call, etc.

It simulates in a safe testing environment some of the most common causes of train driver incidents.

We already have validation evidence that demonstrates that train drivers that have more safety incidents have lower VSE scores. Now an Australasian client wants to validate the VSE with its own drivers. They already use the VSE at train driver selection and now want to see the link with driving & safety performance. Really keen on getting this study going and seeing the results!
